This Weeks Farmers’ Market Face |

|
For Sandy and Lonny Dietz, sometimes the newest technology just doesn’t compare. Last year, the owners of Whitewater Gardens in Altura, Minn., rented a transplanter to assist in crop sowing of their 6-8 acres of vegetables at the beginning of the season. But the machine didn’t measure up to the farmers’ standards. “I get stressed about the crops,” Sandy said. “I’m pretty picky about quality.” Sandy and her sister, Ruthie Bonow, took to the fields and realized their own handiwork surpassed the transplanter’s capabilities. “Who needs a gym when we’re out here doing this every day?” Sandy said, laughing.
